Kathmandu: Nepali writer Dr Dharma Sapkota ‘Raju’ brings a powerful narrative in his literary work ‘Bahek’, which explores the complex interrelationship and conflict between the mind, body, and society. The story delves into how these internal and external struggles shape human behaviour and identity.
According to National News Agency Nepal, at its core, the novel ‘Bahek’ portrays the psychological and social tensions that arise when personal emotions and physical realities clash with rigid social expectations. The work highlights how such conflicts often lead to family fragmentation, emotional distancing, and painful misunderstandings among loved ones.
Through a sensitive narrative, ‘Bahek’ also addresses the theme of acceptance, showing how acknowledgment of individual truth-both within oneself and by society-can become a difficult yet necessary journey. Sapkota’s storytelling sheds light on the silent struggles individuals face and the broader social consequences that follow.
‘Bahek’ stands as a reflective and thought-provoking piece, inviting readers to reconsider the delicate balance between personal identity, familial bonds, and societal norms. The novel was launched amidst a programme in Kathmandu by literary writer Shyamal Adhikari, Rajkumar Baniya, Suman Barsha, the author himself, and Pushparaj Poudel of Shiha Books, the publisher of the novel.
