Kathmandu: Student leaders, including 12 former chairpersons from various student organizations affiliated with political parties, have collectively voiced that the demands of the GenZ demographic can be effectively addressed within the framework of the constitution. They believe that forming a new government from within the parliament would create a favorable environment for elections.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a joint press release issued on Thursday highlighted the leaders’ call for unity in safeguarding the Republic and the constitution. Notable figures such as former President of the Nepal Student Union, Nain Singh Mahar, former Chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Student Union, Nabina Lama, and former Chairperson of the All Nepal National Free Student Union (Revolutionary), Ranjit Tamang, were among those advocating for this approach.
The statement emphasized the importance of political dialogue and consensus in addressing the demands of agitating youths, students, and the general populace. It also mentioned the necessity of constitutional amendments to propel the country forward.
Additionally, the leaders stressed the need for the protection of private and public properties. They also urged for the recapture of inmates who had escaped jails, expressing concerns that these individuals might exploit the country’s current unstable situation to commit further crimes.
