Kathmandu: The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration for the promotion of bilateral tourism between Nepal and Korea. The agreement was formalized by Mr. Sagar Pandey, President of TAAN, and Mr. Kim Beomje, Vice President of KATA, in the presence of Park Tae-Young, Ambassador of The Republic of Korea to Nepal.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the MoU focuses on fostering active cooperation to promote tourism, strengthen friendship, and enhance mutual collaboration between the two countries. Under the agreement, TAAN will collaborate with KATA and Korean travel agencies to promote Nepalese tourism products and destinations, aiming to increase the number of Korean visitors to Nepal. Additionally, TAAN commits to enhancing the safety of Korean tourists through information dissemination, safety training, and prompt search and rescue operations.
Furthermore, TAAN will work alongside KATA to support initiatives that encourage Nepalese travelers to visit Korea. Meanwhile, KATA will organize events, campaigns, and promotional activities to attract more Korean tourists to Nepal, and assist TAAN with information, technology, and logistics to improve safety measures for Korean trekkers and other tourists.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Bae Young Chang, General Secretary of KATA, Mr. Cha Seung Won, Chairperson of the Korea Association of Nepal, and several office bearers and executive committee members of TAAN, including General Secretary Mr. Sonam G. Sherpa, Joint Treasurer Mr. Lakpa T. Sherpa, and EC Members Mr. Raju Gurung, Mr. Ramesh Lamsal, Mr. Nakul Devkota, and Mr. Rajendra Amgain, along with CEO Mr. Ram Chandra Sedai.
