Kathmandu: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has highlighted the urgent need to address the demands of the Gen Z generation, following their recent protests on September 8-9. The Vice President emphasized that these protests underscore the fact that human rights have not yet been fully realized.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Vice President Yadav, in his message delivered on Human Rights Day, expressed his hope that the occasion would inspire collective efforts towards ensuring equality, justice, and freedom of expression, enabling everyone to lead a dignified life. He acknowledged the active participation and intervention demanded by Gen Z, which highlights the pressing need for more opportunities, transparency, and good governance.
Vice President Yadav further elaborated that despite the constitutional guarantees in place, certain sections and communities in Nepal are still waiting for recognition and socioeconomic development. He argued that violations of human rights are unacceptable in a democratic system and stressed the need to eliminate activities that promote discrimination, injustice, and inequality.
Moreover, the Vice President stressed the importance of taking concrete actions to fully guarantee the rights to education, health, and employment for disabled individuals, indigenous groups, as well as the Madhesi and Dalit communities.
