Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has emphasized the crucial role of tourism as a foundation for economic prosperity, highlighting the necessity of collaborative efforts for its development and promotion. During the inauguration of the third edition of the ‘RSS Photo Exhibition’ organized by the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on the occasion of Republic Day-2082 BS, the Minister emphasized the importance of policy and structural reforms to achieve prosperity through tourism.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the inaugural session of the exhibition, themed “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity,” saw the Minister stressing the need for integrated development of mountain tourism through collaborative efforts. He underscored the importance of further branding and publicity of Sagarmatha, the country’s highest peak, and other mountain heritages.
The Minister expressed optimism that the photo exhibition carries a message of significant progress occurring within the country. He also committed to developing special plans for promoting touristic destinations, focusing on infrastructure development.
Highlighting Nepal’s unique geographical features, the Minister noted that the country is home to numerous peaks above 8,000 meters, including the world’s highest peak, Sagarmatha, and the Kechana Kawal of Jhapa, which lies at an elevation of 70 meters above sea level. The exhibition showcases around 100 photographs taken by RSS journalists and utilized by the RSS photo service.
