TU Hosts Historic 51st Convocation with Nobel Laureate as Chief Guest


Kathmandu: Tribhuvan University, the oldest university in Nepal, is holding its 51st Convocation Day today. For the first time in its history, TU has secured the presence of Nobel laureate Prof Kajita Takaaki as the Chief Guest.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Prof Kajita is a distinguished university professor from Japan who received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2015. TU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Deepak Aryal shared that all preparations for the ceremony were complete, marking a significant milestone for the university.



The event will witness the ordination of 16,380 university graduates, with an attendance of 41,000 people, including students and their parents. However, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Aryal noted that 89,191 students graduated from TU this year across bachelor, master, and PhD levels. Students who scored top marks in their respective faculties will be awarded medals during the occasion.
