Bhaktapur: The 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML) has formally concluded with the passage of a 24-point political proposal addressing contemporary issues. The proposal was presented by Pradeep Gyawali, the Coordinator of the Proposal Writing Committee, during the concluding session of the National Congress. It includes demands for reinstating the House of Representatives to guide the country back onto a constitutional path.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the National Congress was inaugurated at Sallaghari of Bhaktapur on December 13. In his remarks during the concluding session, the newly elected Chairperson KP Sharma Oli stated that the National Congress has dispelled misconceptions about the relevance of legacy political parties. He announced plans to advance development, governance, prosperity, and the restoration of the House of Representatives.
The UML expressed its readiness to engage in meaningful discussions with younger generations to foster development and prosperity. The party highlighted its intention to boost youth participation in its organizational structures, a nod towards the Gen Z movement.
The National Congress also stressed the importance of conducting foreign affairs based on sovereign equality, mutual cooperation, understanding, and justice. The UML emphasized the need for balanced relations with friendly countries, including neighbors, while maintaining national interests. The party reiterated the importance of non-alignment, adherence to the UN charter, and the pursuit of world peace.
