Unity Key to Protection of Constitution


Birendranagar: Chief of Karnali Province, Yagya Raj Joshi, has urged all Nepalis to be united for the protection of the constitution and democracy that paves way for a prosperous nation. In his address at a special function organized by the Karnali province government on the occasion of the Constitution Day and National Day in Birendranagar on Friday, the province chief said everyone requires extending support for nurturing democracy.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Minister of the province, Yam Lal Kandel, said the issues raised during the Gen-Z protests against corruption and for good governance are genuine but the arson and vandalism are condemnable. He stressed the need of protecting the constitution gained after a long struggle.



Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, Nanda Gurung, emphasized that unity among all democratic forces could help in effectively implementing the constitution. He stated that the constitution and federalism provide justice to women, Dalits, indigenous people, marginalized groups, minorities, and disadvantaged classes, castes, languages, and religions.



The event was attended by ministers of the Karnali provincial government, chief secretary, secretaries, chiefs of security agencies, representatives from the National Human Rights Commission, civil society leaders, as well as media persons.
