Dhaka: A court has set January 30 for the pronouncement of judgment in a graft case against former Khulna-2 lawmaker Mizanur Rahman. The case was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and is being heard by Judge Md Abu Taher of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3. The decision to set the judgment date comes after the conclusion of arguments from both the prosecution and defense.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mizanur, who was previously out on bail, appeared before the court for today’s hearing. Following the setting of the verdict date, the court canceled his bail and ordered his detention. The case was filed by ACC director Md Manjur Morshed on August 6, 2019, accusing Mizanur of amassing illegal wealth amounting to Taka 1.58 crore and concealing information regarding wealth worth Taka 20 lakh.
