Bangkok: Today’s match between Nepal and Hong Kong under the ICC Women T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier has been cancelled. The match, scheduled to be played in Thailand, was called off due to the wet playground following rainfall on Thursday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the cancellation results in both teams sharing one point each. Nepal is set to play its second match against Hong Kong on May 12. The Qualifier includes teams from Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Bahrain, and the UAE, divided into three groups.
Nepal, Hong Kong, and Bahrain comprise ‘Group C’, while Thailand, Bhutan, and Kuwait are in ‘Group A’. The UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar are in ‘Group B’. The top team from each group will advance to the Super Three round. After the Super Three matches, the two top teams will secure their place for global selection.
