Lalitpur: Police have arrested 52 individuals, including six Chinese nationals, for their alleged involvement in illegal cryptocurrency transactions and operating a dating app without authorization.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended the suspects while they were unlawfully running a call center from a rented house in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-4. The operation was linked to the Meto dating app, which was being managed under the guise of the ‘Social Software Development Company’.
The investigation revealed that the company had also rented a property in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-13, Chagal, which served as a branch for conducting these unlawful activities. The CIB reported that they seized approximately Rs 1.4 million, three laptops, and 54 mobile phones from the individuals arrested. Police have commenced a thorough investigation into the matter.
