Cumilla: A traditional stick fighting (Bengali martial art) and cockfighting exhibition were held today at the town hall ground in Cumilla on the occasion of the Festival of Youth, with the slogan ‘Let’s change the country, change the world’. Cumilla Deputy Commissioner Md Amirul Kaishar formally inaugurated the exhibition match as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the district administration organized the folk games to showcase the lost culture of undivided Cumilla to the current generation and to sustain the cultural heritage. The event aimed to bring attention to traditional sports that have been overshadowed by modern entertainment.
Participants of the stick fighting demonstration and exhibitors of the cockfighting were pleased to display their cultural heritage during the Festival of Youth. The exhibition provided an opportunity for the youth to connect with their roots and appreciate the rich traditions of their region.
