Patuakhali: Two people were killed in separate accidents in Bauphal upazila of the district this morning. A motorcycle rider lost his life in a road accident on the Bauphal-Barishal highway in the Rajanagar area of the upazila early this morning, according to Md Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bauphal Police Station.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased motorcyclist was identified as Tariqul Sharif, 35, son of Abu Bakar Sharif, a resident of Ward No-8 of Kanakdia union of the upazila. In a separate incident, a fisherman died when his fishing trawler sank after being hit by a launch at Mathbaria Point in the Dhulia union section of the Tentulia river, said Kalaiya Naval Police Station in-charge Tariqul Islam.
The fisherman killed in the accident was Sentu Pyada, 50, son of the late Awlad Pyada of Mominpur village under Keshabpur union of the upazila. Police are investigating the details of the incident, and legal action will be taken, the officer in charge added.
