Dhaka: A court here today ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former food minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the anti-graft body also filed a separate petition, pleading to show the former minister arrested in the case. The court set January 29 for holding a hearing on the matter in the presence of the accused.
The ACC in its plea stated that Sadhan amassed illegal wealth of Taka 25.34 crore and made suspicious transactions of Taka 43 crore through 65 bank accounts. The ACC filed the case against him on December 19, 2024.
Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Sadhan Chandra Majumder from the capital’s Bhatara area on October 3. He has been shown arrested in different cases and placed on different terms of remand already.
