Khulna: Two alleged inter-district robbers were apprehended with a significant cache of lethal weapons from the Moyur Bridge area under Sonadanga Police Station in the city. The arrestees have been identified as Mijanur Rahman, alias Mijan Sheikh, 35, and Yead Ali, 32, both residents of Bagerhat district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a police team, acting on a tip-off, established a checkpost in the specified area and signaled a pickup van to stop after noticing its suspicious movement last night. However, the vehicle ignored the signal and attempted to flee the scene, as reported by Shafiqul Islam, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonadanga Police Station.
The police team pursued the vehicle, successfully intercepting it and arresting the two suspects. Upon searching the pickup van, the officers discovered a substantial quantity of lethal weapons.
Both individuals have multiple criminal cases pending against them, including charges of robbery and piracy, at various police stations.
