BD Remittance Fair in NY Begins April 19

New York: A two-day event, the fourth Bangladesh Remittance Fair-2025, is set to commence at Jackson Heights in New York on April 19. The fair aims to increase the flow of remittance from the United States by promoting legal remittance channels among the Bangladeshi diaspora.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh-USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry (USBCCI) along with USA-Bangladesh Business Link will organize the fair under the theme ‘Legal Remittance, Better Bangladesh.’ The event will be inaugurated by Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, who will highlight the importance of remittance in strengthening Bangladesh’s economy.

The fair’s primary objective is to explore strategies that can encourage the Bangladeshi community in the U.S. to remit funds through legitimate channels, thereby boosting the country’s financial inflow. Participants will include various public and private entities such as banks, app developers, money exchange agencies, and other channel partners.

These organizations will not only display their goods and services but will also engage attendees through seminars, symposiums, question-answer sessions, and networking dinners. A special book featuring write-ups by economists, academics, and bankers on topics related to remittance and offshore banking will be released in conjunction with the event.

The New York Financial Service Department, along with major money exchange companies, will join the networking session to showcase the latest advancements in communication and remittance sectors. In the 2024 edition of the fair, Islami Bank, National Bank, and Bank Asia were recognized for channeling the highest remittance. Similarly, BA Express, Sunman Global Express, and Standard Globe Express were awarded for being top remittance partner channels.
