Rajshahi: Different government, non-government, volunteer, and cultural organizations, including the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district and divisional administrations, have outlined extensive programs to observe Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day with due respect.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the nation is set to observe ‘Shaheed Dibash’ (Martyrs Day) and International Mother Language Day with due respect. The planned activities include placing floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, hoisting national flags at half-mast atop all public and private buildings, and holding mourning processions.

In preparation for the day, city streets will feature miniature national flags and colored flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets. Additional programs include Quran recitations and discussions at the Islamic Foundation office, art and literary competitions for students at the Shishu Academy, and the screening of documentary films on the Language Movement. Language veterans will receive a reception on this occasion.

A discussion and cultural function titled “Jatiya Jibone Ekusher Chetona” will be organized at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium, as stated by officials. Khandaker Azim Ahmed, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation, is expected to inaugurate the day’s program by placing wreaths at the Collectorate Building Shaheed Minar at midnight.

Special prayers will be offered in mosques after Johr prayers, along with prayers in temples and other religious venues at convenient times. The District Information Office will conduct mobile music functions at various key locations and screen film shows.
