Time to Evaluate National Affairs Wisely: Speaker Ghimire

Kathmandu: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has emphasized the need for politicians to judiciously assess current national affairs. Addressing an interaction organized by the Ex-Parliamentarians’ Forum on ‘Current State of Nepal: Challenges and Opportunities’ in the federal capital, he highlighted the importance of positive mindset and analysis to counter misleading narratives that have been gaining traction.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Speaker Ghimire urged politicians to support individuals and agencies that provide constructive evaluations and advocate for proper implementation of policies. He pointed out that certain elements are challenging the current system, and emphasized the necessity of positive analysis to marginalize such disruptive influences. He stated that while the present system is suitable, it requires leaders, not systemic change, to drive development forward.

The Speaker also called on leaders to ensure government stability, along with consistent policies and programs within the system. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, echoed these sentiments, advocating for national consensus among political parties to advance development in line with public aspirations. He stressed the responsibility of political parties to protect and promote the system achieved after prolonged struggles.

Former Speaker and outgoing Chairman of the Forum, Taranath Ranabhat, urged political parties to collectively resolve national issues, stressing the need for a robust democracy. The event saw participation from Forum members, lawmakers, and subject experts.
