Dhanusha: At least 100 people were taken ill after attending a wedding reception at Thera Kachuri in Mithila Bihari Municipality-8, Dhanusha district on Sunday evening. The attendants of the wedding ceremony had traveled from Bindhi of Janakpurdham Sub-Metropolitan City-23 and fell sick after consuming the dinner served at the event.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Chief of the District Public Health Office, Umesh Yadav, reported that the patients experienced symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, and weakness after eating local dishes like Buniya and Rasbari. More than 60 individuals were admitted to the Madhes Provincial Hospital, while others received medical attention at different health facilities.
Some of those affected were able to return home following their treatment. Yadav indicated that food poisoning might be the cause of the illnesses, stating, “We have collected the sample of the foods. The reason will be confirmed after the lab reports.”
