Baglung: Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has emphasized the necessity of planned efforts to achieve economic transformation. He highlighted that a budget focused on distribution will not drive the State towards prosperity, suggesting that investment should be directed towards areas with the potential for long-term benefits.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Mahat made these remarks during a press meet organized by the Nepal Press Union in Baglung. He critiqued the practice of obstructing House business for what he described as ‘unnecessary’ reasons and warned that plans and projects designed solely for popularity are likely to result in public disappointment. He identified the Kaligandaki Corridor and the Mid-Hill Highway as projects with promising potential to support economic transformation.
Furthermore, Dr. Mahat clarified that the Nepali Congress party’s General Convention, initially anticipated for November-December, seems unlikely to proceed as planned. He also addressed recent controversies, arguing that the Home Minister should not be compelled to resign over the visit visa scam.
