RSP Demands Formation of Parliamentary Probe Committee on Civil Service Bill

Kathmandu: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for the establishment of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the alleged tampering with the cooling-off period provision in the Civil Service Bill. This Bill was passed by the House of Representatives last Sunday.

According to National News Agency Nepal, there was a unanimous agreement in the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee for a two-year cooling-off period in the Bill. However, the sudden inclusion of a proviso that nullified the cooling-off period has sparked outrage among lawmakers, officials of the parliament secretariat, and observers.

The RSP party secretariat convened a meeting to demand a probe committee to uncover the facts surrounding the alteration of the Bill document. “It is time to regain trust in parliament,” stated Manish Jha, the party spokesperson.

Additionally, the secretariat meeting focused on selecting a candidate for the upcoming by-election in Rupandehi constituency no 3, scheduled for November. The party also resolved to continue its protest in the legislature over the visit visa scam and to demand the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. Efforts will be made to further activate the central departments of the party, Jha added.
