Questioning Party Statute Called Organizational Anarchy by CPN (UML) General-Secretary

Lalitpur: General-Secretary of the CPN (UML), Shankar Pokhrel, has declared that questioning the statute passed by the party’s 10th National General Convention amounts to organizational anarchy. He made these remarks during a gathering of in-charge and office-bearers of the party’s line organizations at the UML headquarters in Chyasal, Lalitpur. This meeting was part of the preparations for the upcoming statute convention scheduled for Bhadau.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Pokhrel emphasized that while the general convention is capable of amending certain provisions based on immediate needs, it is unethical and indicative of indiscipline to question provisions that were passed with participation in previous conventions. He stressed the importance of defending these provisions and maintaining organizational unity.

Pokhrel clarified that the upcoming event in Bhadau is a statute convention, not a general convention, and cautioned against creating divisions in the name of any leader. He highlighted the need for leaders to distinguish between policy and leadership development. Additionally, he instructed line organizations to submit documents from their recent conventions to the party headquarters within a week.

UML Standing Committee member and Chief of line organizations mechanism, Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, along with central committee members Bishnu Rijal and Rachana Khadka, also addressed the gathering. They urged party leaders and cadres to adhere to the party’s rules and regulations and refrain from speaking against them.
