Embankment Along Shikaribas Stream to Prevent Inundation

Kathmandu: A makeshift embankment will be constructed along the Shikaribas stream of Thori rural municipality-3 to prevent erosion and inundation. In light of the active monsoon rains, which have been flooding rivers and streams, the Shikaribas settlement is facing an increasing threat of inundation. As a result, the process for a temporary embankment has been initiated.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Chief of Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division in Parsa, Engineer Rakesh Sah, informed that the embankment would be set up at a cost of Rs 1 million to ensure the safety of the Shikaribas settlement from inundation and erosion. “We have started the undertaking. Seventy families settle at Shikaribas,” he added. The settlement is located around six kilometers inside the postal highway bordering Thori.
