Gorkha: More than 122,700 tourists visited the Gorkha Durbar Museum in Gorkha district over the past year. Chief of the Gorkha Durbar Museum, Jayanarayan Karki, stated that this number includes 84,257 domestic tourists during the fiscal year 2081/82, highlighting that visitors are drawn to the museum for study and observation purposes.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the number of visitors has shown a gradual increase, with 119,187 visitors recorded in the fiscal year 2080/81. Karki revealed that 36,298 students visited the museum for academic excursions, while 2,003 visitors came from third countries.
The Gorkha Durbar Museum has been open to the public since 2065 BS. It mainly showcases the life of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of modern Nepal, featuring exhibits on the weapons used during his time, costumes of various ethnic communities, and traditional bands.
