Chinese Delegation Meets Minister Paudel, Signs Multiple MoUs


Kathmandu: A Chinese delegation led by Chen Xiaodong, the Chairman of China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, at the Finance Ministry. The discussion focused on Nepal-China bilateral relations, development partnership, and current and prospective projects funded by China.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the meeting resulted in the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for four projects. These include the construction of a bone marrow transplantation facility at BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bharapur and a feasibility study for expanding the Civil Hospital. Finance Secretary Ghanashyam Upadhyaya and the CIDCA Chair represented their respective sides in signing these MoUs.



An additional MoU concerning human resources development was also signed, aiming to allow over 1,200 government employees to participate in seminars organized by various China-based organizations. Further, Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Hitendra Dev Shakya and the CIDCA Chair signed a document regarding a feasibility study for the construction of the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung Transnational Electricity Transmission line.



China has also committed to assisting Nepal in rebuilding structures damaged by recent flooding in Rasuwa district and in resuming customs procedures. Deputy Prime Minister Paudel emphasized that post-disaster recovery is a top priority for Nepal and expressed gratitude to China for its support. He highlighted the importance of the Rasuwa customs point for both import-export and revenue collection, ensuring its reconstruction soon.
