Over 37,500 Foreign Tourists Visit Manang in Fiscal Year 2024/25

Manang: Over 37,500 foreign tourists visited Manang district in a year, marking a rise in tourist arrivals.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project Area Office reported that 37,733 foreign tourists visited Manang district during the fiscal year 2024/25.

As per the data from the Dharapani Tourist Check Point under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project Office, Manang, a total of 2,554 tourists from SAARC countries and 35,178 tourists from other countries visited the district in the last fiscal year. Office Chief Dhak Bahadur Bhujel noted that tourists from 134 countries visited Manang, with the highest number from Israel at 4,358, followed by 3,616 from France and 2,842 from Germany.

In the previous fiscal year of 2023/24, 22,371 visitors from 124 countries arrived in Manang, with French tourists leading in numbers. The local economy, reliant on agriculture and tourism, has benefited from the increasing foreign tourist arrivals, contributing to the district’s economic growth. Manang’s appeal lies in the Annapurna trekking route, ranked as the 10th most dangerous trekking route globally.

Despite the attraction of Manang’s natural heritage, local entrepreneurs express concerns over erratic weather events and climate change impacts in the region, which may affect future tourist numbers. Conservation Education Assistant at ACAP, Bhupendra Gurung, highlighted that domestic tourist numbers have also been noteworthy recently.
