Indra Baniya Elected NC Parliamentary Party Leader of Bagmati Province


Kathmandu: Indra Baniya has been elected the Parliamentary Party Leader of the Nepali Congress in the Bagmati Province assembly. In a closely watched election, Baniya emerged victorious over Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama, securing 22 votes compared to Lama’s 14 votes. The election committee noted that one vote was declared invalid.



According to National News Agency Nepal, a total of 37 provincial assembly members participated in the voting process. This election marks a shift in leadership, as in the previous election for the same position, Lama had been elected with 21 votes, while Baniya had received only 16 votes.
