Baglung: A 15-bed basic hospital in Badigad Rural Municipality, located in Baglung district, is gearing up to offer dialysis services for kidney patients in the near future. The initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing local healthcare facilities.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the rural municipality has procured five sets of dialysis equipment worth Rs 10 million to initiate the service. Chairperson of the rural municipality, Gandaki Thapa Adhikari, revealed that the acquisition of the dialysis machines is part of an ongoing effort to begin offering these essential services soon.
Remarkably, Badigad is poised to become the first local government in the country to provide dialysis services from a basic hospital. The hospital, situated in Gwalichaur area of the rural municipality, was recently constructed at a total cost of Rs 180 million.
Currently, Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung district headquarters offers dialysis services. The move to introduce similar services in Badigad follows an agreement signed a year ago between Badigad Rural Municipality and Sahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Centre, Bhaktapur.
In addition to equipment acquisition, the rural municipality is also in the process of recruiting the necessary human resources to support the new dialysis services.
