Parliamentary Special Committee Prepares Report on Cooling-Off Period Controversy


Kathmandu: The parliamentary special committee formed by the House of Representatives (HoR) to investigate issues related to the drafting of the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080 BS, has completed its report. This report is anticipated to be presented in today’s HoR meeting, as stated by committee member Madhav Sapkota. The committee managed to finalize its findings within a span of 29 days, holding a total of 37 meetings.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the House of Representatives had established the parliamentary special committee on July 7, in accordance with HoR Regulations. The committee conducted consultations with experts and stakeholders to understand how such errors occur in the drafting process and to identify measures that could be implemented to prevent similar issues in the future.



The committee, led by Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Jivan Pariyar, included members from various political parties: NC lawmaker Sushila Thing, CPN (UML) lawmakers Narayan Prasad Acharya and Ishwari Gharti, CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Madhav Sapkota, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Roshan Karki.
