Lahan: Acting Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakashman Singh emphasized the necessity of collaboration among the three tiers of government and local communities to protect the Chure region to mitigate climate change impacts. Inaugurating a newly-constructed commercial building in Lahan, Singh underscored the importance of sustainable preservation of Chure in addressing environmental challenges faced by Madhes.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Acting Prime Minister commended the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction for its role in advancing Nepal’s economy. Singh praised the timely completion of the building project, highlighting its positive implications by demonstrating effective project management.
Minister Singh also emphasized the importance of proper management and utilization of the building to ensure stakeholders derive maximum benefits. Additionally, Ram Chandra Yadav, Member of the Constituent Assembly and President of the Nepali Congress Siraha district committee, highlighted the need for an irrigation project from the Kamala River and Koshi River to boost the district’s agricultural sector.
Lahan Municipality Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhury noted Lahan’s status as the third-largest commercial hub in Madhesh Province, following Birgunj and Janakpur. He expressed confidence that the new multi-purpose building, constructed at a cost of Rs 310 million, would bolster the city’s economic activities.
