Kathmandu: Authorities have collected 547 dead bodies from various places following the Bhotekoshi flash flood that ripped through Rasuwa district on Wednesday. The flash flood caused a trail of devastation, taking 547 lives with numbers still rising, according to the Nepal Police.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Police Headquarters shared that among the dead bodies collected in different places, Rasuwa recorded 13, Dhading 40, Tanahu 29, Nuwakot 38, Gorkha 44, Chitwan 221, Nawalparasi Purba 134, and Nawalparasi Paschim 28. Nepal Police spokesperson Abhi Narayan Kafle reported that 1,473 flood survivors have been rescued so far from various places. The number of people rescued from Rasuwa stands at 572, from Nuwakot 898, and Dhading 3.
Those found injured during the rescue operation are being brought to Kathmandu for treatment. So far, 94 survivors have been airlifted to health facilities in Kathmandu, with a few already discharged from the hospital. Government officials, including those from security agencies, the Customs Office, and the Immigration Office, have gone missing since the catastrophic flash flood.
The Nepali Army reported that 44 of its staff have gone out of contact since the tragedy, while Nepal Police reported 27, Armed Police Force 13, Customs Office Timure 15, and Immigration Office Timure 4. The number of people gone out of contact stands at 2,381. The security agencies have been continuing search and rescue operations in coordination with government officials, locals, and people’s representatives.
