Kathmandu: Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Mishal Mohammed Al Ansari, has paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav at the latter’s office in Lainchour. They discussed various issues including mutual relations between Nepal and Qatar, collaboration in multilateral and regional forums, labour, and trade.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Vice-President Yadav noted that Nepal and Qatar have enjoyed excellent relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977. He highlighted the commendable collaboration between the two nations as members of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement in multilateral and regional forums.
Vice-President Yadav expressed gratitude to Qatar for providing employment opportunities to approximately 365,000 Nepali workers. He reassured Qatar of Nepal’s commitment to ensuring safe and dignified foreign employment. Additionally, he thanked the Emir of Qatar for pardoning Nepali prisoners during Ramadan and Eid in 2025.
Emphasizing the potential benefits of direct flights between Nepal and Qatar, Vice-President Yadav suggested that enhancing the Kathmandu-Doha direct flight could promote tourism and trade expansion. He extended congratulations to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the Qatari people on their National Day, wishing them health, happiness, peace, progress, and prosperity.
The Ambassador of Qatar reiterated the strong and longstanding relations between Nepal and Qatar. He mentioned that Qatar released 30 Nepali prisoners from its jails at the request of the Nepalese government.
