Civil Service Bill Tampering Sparks Accountability Debate: Arjun Narsing KC Calls for Action

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) central member and former minister Arjun Narsing KC has voiced strong opposition against those manipulating the cooling-off period provision in the Civil Service Bill. He asserted that individuals involved in such actions, which mislead the entire parliament, should not be exempted from accountability.

According to National News Agency Nepal, KC expressed his concerns while speaking at the ninth departmental convention organized by the Nepal Civil Service Employees Union, Office of the Auditor General Departmental Working Committee. He emphasized the severity of the issue, stating, “There would be no other bigger case of deception when the provision of cooling off period – earlier endorsed from a committee – came in another form by keeping the entire House in dark.”

The NC leader further questioned who would be held responsible for amendments made to laws that could potentially endanger the country in the future. He also proposed renaming the Civil Service Act to the Administrative Service or Citizen Service Act, citing the necessity for change. KC highlighted that the matter has now reached the National Assembly and is beyond their immediate control, yet he stressed the importance of revising the Civil Service Act.
