EC Deactivating Election Code of Conduct from Midnight Today

Kathmandu: The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 BS, which has been in effect since January 18 for the elections of National Assembly (NA) members and House of Representatives (HoR) members, will be deactivated from midnight today.

According to National News Agency Nepal, EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai revealed that the decision was made earlier today. The Election Code of Conduct was implemented under the Election Commission Act, 2073 BS, and the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 BS, to ensure that the elections were conducted in a free, fair, and fearless manner.

In a statement issued today, the EC confirmed that the election code of conduct would cease to be in force from midnight, marking an end to its regulatory role in the recent electoral process.
