Banepa: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has announced the construction of a high-tech indoor shooting studio named ‘Cinepa’ in Banepa, Kavre. This initiative marks a significant development for Nepal’s film industry, which has been advocating for such a facility for six decades.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the announcement was made during a program organized by the Film Development Board at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar. The project was initially proposed during Oli’s first term as Prime Minister but faced delays due to land disputes and a change in government. Despite financial constraints, PM Oli assured that the project would receive the necessary budget allocation to ensure its completion.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the studio as a transformative step for the film sector in Nepal. He also addressed concerns regarding land encroachment and misuse related to the Film Development Board, instructing the Minister for Communications and Information Technology and the Secretary to investigate and report back within 10 days.
The event was attended by key figures, including Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, former Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota, Bagmati Province Assembly Member Kanchan Chandra Bade, and Secretary Radhika Aryal, among others.
