Kathmandu: Lawmakers have put forth their views on contemporary issues in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Thakur Prasad Gaire highlighted the importance of organizing ‘Sagarmatha Sambaad’ for climate justice, especially as the country grapples with climate-induced crises. He expressed optimism that the initiative could pave the way for viable solutions to the ongoing climate challenges.
Gaire emphasized the urgency of establishing climate justice, noting the increasing risks of floods, landslides, and other climate-related disasters. Similarly, Dig Bahadur Limbu called on the government to allocate funds for irrigation and drinking water facilities in Morang constituency-1, as these resources have been severely impacted by floods last September.
Dol Prasad Aryal urged the government to enhance disaster management strategies, pointing out the difficulties citizens face during the rainy season due to landslides and floods. Meanwhile, Tara Lama Tamang requested government intervention for the resettlement of families displaced by the expansion of the Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve.
In addition, Tosima Karki demanded progress on the Kathmandu-Tarai-Madhes fast track project, a national pride initiative, while Dikpal Kumar Shahi sought improvements in the power supply system in Aathbis municipality of Dailekh. Deepak Bahadur Singh called for an end to policy-level corruption, and Narayani Sharma drew attention to power outages in Tarai-Madhes amid rising temperatures.
Nisha Dangi emphasized the necessity of sustainable development, skill development training, job creation, quality education, and good governance for the country’s progress. Pushpa Bahadur Shah urged the government to allocate a budget for the Achham District Hospital in the upcoming fiscal year, as plans for a 50-bed facility are currently underway.
Other lawmakers, including Prakash Jwala, Prem Bahadur Maharjan, and Bindabasini Kansakar, also shared their perspectives on these pressing issues. They collectively advocated for a budget that aligns with the citizens’ aspirations for development, focusing on fundamental rights, infrastructure, productivity, and job creation.
