Mustang: The number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Mustang has increased significantly, thanks to the completion of the national pride project, the Beni-Jomsom-Korala roadway. Information Officer at District Police Office, Mustang, Bishal Adhikari, shared that the last fiscal year (2081/82) recorded 705,000 tourist arrivals, marking a 55 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year, 2080/81.
According to National News Agency Nepal, knowledgeable individuals attribute the rise in visitors to the district’s historic, religious, cultural, and biodiversity attractions. Key religious sites in Mustang include the Muktinath Temple, Kagbnei Dham, and Damodar Kunda, which are important for Hindu pilgrims.
In addition to these Hindu shrines, Mustang also hosts monasteries for Buddhist followers. Other notable tourist destinations in the region include the Durbar Square of Mustang’s cultural king, the Kaligandaki corridor, and Taltalaiya.
