Kathmandu: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has renounced all State benefits except for security, in her capacity as the former Head of the State. She announced that this decision would take effect immediately from Wednesday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the government had been providing her with various facilities, ranging from communications to transportation. Bhandari’s secretariat communicated this decision through a letter addressed to the Secretary at the Home Ministry.
Bhandari had been receiving these State facilities since the completion of her tenure as the Head of State. Recently, she had reignited her political journey by formally announcing her entry into politics and renewing her membership with the CPN UML at a programme organized in memory of her late spouse, Madan Bhandari, in the federal capital.
