Health Ministry Allocates Budget for Treatment of Movement and Disaster Injured

Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradip Paudel, has announced a new initiative to ensure medical treatment for individuals injured during significant people’s movements such as the armed revolution, people’s movement, and Madhesh movement. The decision aims to address the ongoing healthcare needs of these individuals by utilizing public hospitals for their treatment.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the Minister has taken steps to cover the treatment costs for those injured in these movements, despite previous limitations due to budget constraints. Although the State fund has been providing some level of treatment, full coverage was not possible until now.

The Minister has approved a work procedure that facilitates the reimbursement of treatment costs to hospitals, a move expected to provide a more sustainable solution. This initiative also extends to those injured in natural disasters like earthquakes.

Under the new work procedure, all government and community hospitals are mandated to offer treatment services to affected individuals. The procedure outlines a clear reimbursement process for health facilities, ensuring they are compensated for the care provided.

The Ministry has allocated a budget for this initiative in the upcoming fiscal year. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki stated that with this endorsement, challenges faced by individuals injured in various movements and disasters will be effectively addressed.
