House of Representatives Session Postponed Amid Opposition Protest

Kathmandu: The House of Representatives meeting has been postponed to 1:00 pm on Friday. Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives was postponed without entering the regular agenda due to obstruction by opposition parties.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the HoR was initially scheduled to convene at 3:00 pm today, but internal discussions between the parties to resolve the deadlock led to postponements first to 5:30 pm and then to 6:30 pm. However, as soon as the meeting commenced, opposition party MPs stood in protest. Despite repeated appeals from Speaker Devraj Ghimire for them to take their seats, the disruption continued, necessitating the postponement of the meeting to tomorrow.

Opposition parties, including the CPN (Maoist Center), the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), the CPN (Unified Socialist), and others, have been obstructing the House of Representatives sessions. Their actions stem from concerns over the visit VISA scam, for which they are demanding an investigation committee and the resignation of the Home Minister.

The ongoing protest has resulted in a two-week standstill for the parliament, as it has been unable to conduct its meetings due to the opposition’s obstruction.
