Bhojpur: Authorities have closed a mining industry that was operating illegally in Leguwaghat of Arun Rural Municipality-6 in the Bhojpur district. The industry had been running for an extended period without adhering to any legal procedures, as noted by officials.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Kamal Thulung, Chief of the District Coordination Committee, stated that the closure followed an inspection by officials. The inspection revealed that the crusher was unlawfully extracting natural resources from the site. The District Coordination Committee is also conducting inspections of other crusher industries in the district, Thulung mentioned.
Thulung emphasized that the industry is prohibited from continuing its operations until it complies with all legal requirements. The industry was situated within 300 meters of a motorable bridge along the Leguwa-Bhojpur road section and was only 60 meters away from the riverbank.
A regulation mandates that a crusher industry should maintain a distance of at least 500 meters from human settlements. However, this particular industry was found to be only 350 meters away from Leguwa bazaar in Bhojpur district and Ram bazaar district.
