Indo-Nepal Relations Multifaceted: Chair Thakur

Jaleshwar: Chairman of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Nepal, Mahantha Thakur, has emphasized the multifaceted nature of Indo-Nepal relations, which he stated have remained intimate since ancient times. Speaking at a programme organized by the Nepal-India Friendship Association, Madhesh Province, Thakur highlighted the deep-rooted connections between the two nations.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the event was held to honor the winners of an essay competition on the theme ‘Nepal-India Friendly Relations’. Chairman Thakur noted that India is Nepal’s closest ally, with bilateral relations extending to the people-to-people level, reinforcing the strong bond between the countries.

In his speech, Thakur also addressed the activities of former king Gyanendra, describing them as anti-democratic. He criticized the use of religious narratives to regain power, deeming it irrelevant. Thakur reiterated his party’s commitment to fighting for the rights of Madhesh and the Madheshi people, vowing to continue the peaceful struggle until these rights are secured.

During the event, awards were distributed to 24 students from Dhanusha and 18 from Mahottari districts. The honorees received bicycles, trophies, and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
