International Conference on Climate Change Announced for August 18-19


Kathmandu: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has announced the organization of an international conference on climate change scheduled for August 18-19. The event aims to draw global attention to the climate change impacts faced by Nepal.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Speaker Ghimire made this announcement during a news conference at Tribhuvan International Airport upon his return from Switzerland. He had attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments in Geneva, organized by the IPU in collaboration with the United Nations. Speaker Ghimire also mentioned discussions about organizing a similar event focusing on the impact of climate change in the Asia Pacific region, which is planned for January 30-31.



Ghimire departed for the conference on July 27 and participated in the event held from July 30 to August 2. During his visit, he engaged in bilateral meetings with his counterparts from various countries, including the UK, Switzerland, Malta, Israel, and Bhutan. These meetings aimed to foster international collaboration on addressing climate change challenges.
