Kathmandu: Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr. Bishwanath Poudel has highlighted a decline in investor morale following the Gen-Z movement that occurred on September 8 and 9. At an interaction organized by the Citizen Initiative on Wednesday, Governor Poudel noted that the past two years have seen stagnant investment expansion despite the availability of ample funds. He attributed the recent Gen-Z movement as a factor exacerbating the existing challenges.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the interaction also saw Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, comment on the violence during the movement. Dhakal pointed to external infiltration as a reason for attacks on both private and government structures during the protests.
CPN (UML) Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali emphasized the need for political parties to focus on system-oriented reforms rather than individual-oriented ones. Meanwhile, Nepali Congress leader Pradeep Poudel stated that the Nepali Congress party should take responsibility, as it was in power during the time of the movement.
Attorney General Sabita Bhandari remarked that the political landscape following the uprising presents both an opportunity and a challenge for the government, indicating the complex nature of the current situation.
