Justice Cannot Be Delivered Under Fear or Intimidation: Senior Justice Malla


Kathmandu: Supreme Court Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla has emphasized the importance of delivering justice without fear or intimidation. Speaking at a program organized by the Supreme Court on the occasion of International Women’s Day and Women’s Judges’ Day, Justice Malla highlighted that good governance is integral to the judiciary, achievable only through judicial independence, impartiality, and fearlessness.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Justice Malla asserted that judicial independence must not be compromised under any circumstances, as the constitution envisions an independent judiciary. She further stated that national progress is contingent upon the advancement of women, pointing out existing gaps in the political, economic, and social sectors. She stressed the need to celebrate Women’s Day to address these gaps.



Additionally, Supreme Court Justice Saranga Subedi underscored the necessity for women to work productively and believe in each other’s abilities, as they continue to face challenges in proving themselves. Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral remarked on the importance of women working towards justice, equality, participation, and inclusiveness by enhancing their leadership capacity. Nepal Bar Association Vice President Saraswati Shrestha added that women’s empowerment and participation remain crucial.
