Kagbeni: The Kagbeni-Korala road, part of the national pride project known as the Jomsom-Korala road, has been obstructed by a landslide, disrupting the vital connection between the north and south of the district.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Police Office of Mustang reported that the Korala road has been blocked since early morning. This occurred after a landslide, accompanied by rocks, descended onto the road in the Manebhir area following rainfall the previous night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Chhiring Kippa Lama stated that the road became impassable due to the landslide in the Manebhir area of the Korala road, approximately 200 meters north of Kagkhola in Kagbeni. He confirmed that necessary personnel and bulldozers have been dispatched to clear the road, which has remained obstructed for some time.
The blockage of the Kagbeni-Korala road has resulted in the suspension of vehicles traveling to Upper Mustang. Lama indicated that the landslide caused sizable boulders to fall, and clearing the road might take some time. Efforts are being made to enable the immediate use of motorcycles and light vehicles.
The rainfall in Mustang has also caused a significant rise in the water level of the Kali Gandaki River. Consequently, the district administration office has advised coastal settlements to stay alert.
