Karnali Highway to be Closed for Four Days for Repairs

Kathmandu: The Karnali Highway will be closed for four days starting June 3 to facilitate necessary repairs on the Kalalu-Lalighat section. This closure will halt all traffic movement, directly affecting residents of Kalikot, Bajura, and Humla districts who rely on this route.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the decision to close the highway was made during a stakeholders’ meeting at the District Administration Office. Assistant Chief District Officer Janak Sharma stated that the road will be closed from June 3 to 7 for maintenance purposes. Vehicles using the highway will be stopped at various locations on both sides of the affected area.

The closure is necessary due to the narrow and challenging geography of the area in need of repair. A stretch of nearly one kilometer will be undergoing maintenance to ensure safe and efficient travel once the repairs are completed.
