MCC Projects in Nepal Resume After Suspension Lifted

Kathmandu: The US’ international development agency, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), has been granted permission to continue its projects in Nepal. The Finance Ministry revealed that the Nepal government issued a letter on July 24, confirming the continuation of MCC projects in the country.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the projects under MCC were initially suspended following an executive order from the US President on January 20, 2025. However, the suspension was reconsidered and subsequently lifted on July 24, allowing the projects to resume. The Finance Ministry played a key role in facilitating this decision.

The MCC projects in Nepal focus on the expansion of transportation and energy, which are considered essential infrastructures for the country’s development. These projects aim to improve connectivity and energy supply, contributing to Nepal’s economic growth and development objectives.
