Kathmandu: The Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that monsoon winds have become active, leading to rainfall in various parts of the country. According to National News Agency Nepal, Meteorologist Govinda Jha from the Division has confirmed that the monsoon winds have intensified, forming a weather system responsible for the current rainfall. The moisture-laden winds originating from the Bay of Bengal have led to moderate to heavy rainfall in several areas nationwide.
Currently, the weather is partially to generally cloudy, with light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning occurring in regions such as Ilam in the Koshi Province; Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Kathmandu, and Chitwan in the Bagmati Province; Pyuthan and Rolpa in the Lumbini Province; and around Surkhet in the Karnali Province. Jha has advised necessary precautions, especially as heavy rainfall is noted in specific locations around Ilam and Bardiya.
The Division forecasts rain in the Kathmandu Valley until Saturday and anticipates heavy rainfall in isolated areas of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, and Lumbini Province until Friday morning. Additionally, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, and Gandaki Province, with sporadic occurrences in other elevated areas.
