NA Passes Ship (Operation and Management) Bill, 2081 BS

Kathmandu: The National Assembly (NA), Nepal’s upper house of the Federal Parliament, has successfully passed the Ship (Operation and Management) Bill, 2081 BS. The bill, presented by Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, received unanimous approval during today’s NA meeting.

According to National News Agency Nepal, before the bill’s passage, the assembly had unanimously agreed to discuss the Ship (Operation and Management) Bill, 2081, in conjunction with the Legislative Management Committee’s report. The discussion saw active participation from lawmakers including Suresh Kumar Ale Magar, Rukmini Koirala, Taraman Swanr, Dr. Beduram Bhusal, and Bishnu Bahadur BK.

In response to inquiries raised during the debate, Minister Dahal expressed optimism that the bill would facilitate the operation of vessels on Nepal’s internal waterways, thereby granting the country access to the sea. The legislation is seen as a crucial step toward expanding Nepal’s transportation infrastructure.

The National Assembly is scheduled to reconvene at 1:15 pm on June 13.
